Infrastructure Project Manager SAP & Azure

Intro

AirFrance KLM is undertaking a large transformation the domain of its core IT Operations by transitioning from it’s privately owned datacenters in Valbonne, Toulouse and Amsterdam to cloud based hosting. This cloud based hosting can be either at Azure, Google cloud or internal cloud.

The application portfolio for this migration is split in three major chunks – SAP, Data analytics and “other”. Where the primary target for “other” is Azure, for Data analitics is Google cloud and for SAP is under investigation to be targeted at either public cloud or Azure. 

The move to cloud is combined with an upgrade of internal security policies and elimination of technical debt. Taking on board technical roadmaps where feasible. The approach for SAP is to target a tech-only migration for the core systems (all ECC most on HANA db, some on Oracle db) with the ambition to bring SAP Operations at a higher level by exploiting the capabilities of cloud.   Migrations to S4/HANA or Oracle to HANA db are considered out of scope due to impact on business roadmaps. The scope of the SAP migration is about 54 SAP landscapes, with approx. 3500 interfaces.

SAP teams in AFKL

The SAP basis team is part of IT Operations and has a presence in Valbonne and Amsterdam. In total there are approx. 10 team members, two of which are technical architects. They work in close cooperation with other Operations teams like Core Infra for the delivery of basic infra services.

SAP commodities are managed by the TACE SAP team in IT Development. They take care of generic components like PO, IDM, Solution manager etc and some shared functional components like MDG.

SAP business solutions are managed by the business focused Organizer teams in IT Development. The organizers take care of overall IT application landscape consistency and have their own teams with SAP solution architects, functional consultants and ABAP skills.

All teams are multinational consisting of people with French, Dutch, Indian and other nationalities.

Activities

As a project manager for delivering the agreed results in a controlled and transparent process. Working together with your business counterpart, supported by your technical architect and in agreement with corporate guidelines.

For the delivery process this means: 

• Clear agreements on project process (waterfall, agile) en roles. 
• Good delivery steering and control (financials, planning, risk management, reporting, contract management, audit trail) 
• Good cooperation within IT (Architecture and delivery contributors)
• Good sensitivity to business needs and value 
• Good organizational sensitivity; knowing who to address for what subjects and proper use of hierarchy. 
• Happy and involved team 

 

For the delivery results this means: 

• According to planning and budget 
• Organisational appreciation of process and results 

Skills:

• We expect you to be well at home in a SAP basis environment and have experience in delivering SAP systems on hyperscaler platforms – preferably Azure. And in leading team teams in this delivery.
• You will report to the SAP M2C Program Manager and work closely with the SAP basis team manager.
• On top of good project management skills, experience in working with technical platform implementations in large companies, bringing together experts from many departments in a distributed context (in this case French and Dutch) is required. As are cultural sensitivity and strong communication skills.
