Senior Data Platform Engineer

You will develop workflows, integrations and metadata pipelines that connect data sources with our governance ecosystem, while acting as a senior technical point of contact and mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize governance workflows using BPMN 2.0, Flowable Engine, Java and Groovy.
• Build Python-based REST API integrations and serverless microservices on GCP Cloud Run.
• Develop metadata extraction and classification pipelines using Dataplex Knowledge Catalog and Gemini APIs.
• Assess the impact of changes to data schemas and asset models on downstream systems.
• Manage CI/CD with GitHub Actions, Docker and Git.
• Work with Collibra and BigQuery to manage and analyze metadata.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across GCP and Collibra and act as a senior escalation point.
• Translate business and governance requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to code reviews and technical decision-making. 

Requirements

• Strong experience designing and delivering cloud-native data or platform solutions.
• Extensive hands-on experience with GCP, particularly BigQuery, Cloud Run, IAM and monitoring.
• Advanced Python and SQL skills and experience with REST APIs and OAuth 2.0.
• Strong knowledge of BPMN 2.0 and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with GenAI applications, preferably using Vertex AI or LangChain, including RAG.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring developers and taking technical ownership.

Nice to have

• Experience with Collibra, Flowable Engine and Groovy.
• Experience integrating Collibra with GCP/Dataplex.
• Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, PCI and zero-trust IAM.
• Experience with Secret Manager or HashiCorp Vault.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP).
