Application Analyst (IMS-DB2)

Design migration strategies & -plans, including data mapping, transformation rules, and testing procedures.

  • Analyze existing IMS-DB applications and databases to understand data structures, dependencies, and business logic.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define migration objectives and success criteria.
  • Design migration strategies and develop detailed migration plans, including data mapping, transformation rules, and testing procedures.
  • Work closely with database administrators and developers to implement migration scripts, data conversion processes, and application modifications as needed.
  • Perform thorough testing of migrated applications and databases to ensure data integrity, functionality, and performance meet requirements.
  • Document migration processes, configurations, and procedures for future reference and knowledge transfer.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address issues, mitigate risks, and ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to database migration and application modernization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7-8 years of experience in Mainframe Environment
  • In-depth knowledge of IMS-DB and IMS-DB2 databases, SQL, COBOL and JCL
  • Experience with database migration tools and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of application modernization techniques, such as re-platforming and re-hosting.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
