Junior Network Engineer

Experience with Cisco Lan and CCNA certified

Job description:

As a network engineer you are responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of T-Systems Netherlands network, Wi-Fi and telecommunications infrastructure. You implement and manage network monitoring solutions, changes in design & configuration and steer issue resolution. You are actively involved in projects and work closely with the Network Architect and international colleagues to ensure that the network and communications infrastructure meets business requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Network operations – oversee and manage operational tasks executed by Network Operations Team 
  • Monitoring – analyze network traffic, reporting, logging, usage and trends
  • Coordinate and steer changes – runbooks and create and maintain procedures
  • Continuous improvement – advice and execute continuous development and improvements
  • Vendor, contract and partner management – be the SPOC to our external partners and international colleagues
  • Participate – in projects both network, IT and security
  • Procedures – responsible for technical documentation, procedures and work instructions
  • Hands-on – onsite support and assistance during work in Server Rooms

Most important skills:

  • Broad knowledge of network, Wi-Fi, lines, techniques and protocols; CCNA certified
  • Experience with Cisco LAN and Wi-Fi and experience with Fortinet firewall products
  • Able to work independently within a complex international organization, proactivity is also important.

Other skills:

  • HBO or equivalent level and proven skills in network engineering role, preferably in an international environment
  • IT knowledge of Windows platforms and hardware like laptops, printers, and servers is preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with interpreting and translating network architecture
  • Analytical
  • Proactive mindset, self-steering, team-player, ask help when needed
  • Preferred experience with ServiceDesk Plus
  • ITIL v3 (or 4)
  • Fluent in English
  • Professional, creative and result oriented
  • Customer friendly, being able to balance strict central procedures and local flexibility
