LINKIT UNIQUE DATA ENGINEERING BOOTCAMP
LINKIT, the knowledge-driven IT sourcing partner, will launch a unique data engineering bootcamp on 1 May 2019. Senior developers and specialists from LINKIT will take care of the bootcamp and high-potential candidates who have undergone a rigorous selection procedure. In an eight-week bootcamp, which comes with job guaranty (and salary), these nine professionals will be prepared for the data engineering course in practice.
The specialists who provide the bootcamp are top-notch engineers and have a practical, hands-on approach with interactive sessions and cases from and for real customers. After completing the bootcamp, the brand-new engineers will go to work for customers to apply their newly acquired knowledge directly in practice.
A number of leading organizations have already indicated that they would like to use the knowledge of the nine data engineers who will graduate from the bootcamp. We also collaborate with them closely to focus the teaching material on their specific IT stack and challenges.
Daan de Groof, CTO at LINKIT, explains the motives of bootcamp: “Much has been said about data, machine learning, real-time artificial intelligence and how this is changing the world. Data engineers play a crucial role in this. We see a huge gap between the range of skills that our customers need, and the skills specialists have. The essence is that a data engineer can realize value for the business from the enormous amount of structured and unstructured data. Knowledge is required within a broad spectrum in a rapidly changing technology stack. From identification of data sources, validation, extraction, aggregation, storage, software development to the application of machine learning models in production.
Since LINKIT employs the best specialists in this field who have a passion for sharing knowledge, we started this initiative. After a tough selection procedure with various assessments, we selected a group that has the right background and drive. They usually have a PhD in computer engineering, knowledge of one or more development languages, and enormous learning capacity. This group is intensively and hands-on trained and guided in two months so that they are ready for the real thing. Part of the curriculum is, among others, Spark, Kafka, API integration, Hadoop, Flink, CI / CD, Kubernetes, AI / ML, system engineering and virtualization. The process is completed with a capstone project, after which the professionals are intensively supervised for another year by our senior data engineers.”
The data engineering bootcamp is a supplement to the current portfolio of IT services that LINKIT offers. LINKIT also regularly organises internal and external knowledge sessions and is also the initiator of the ITNEXT community (www.itnext.io) and ITNEXT Summit (www.itnextsummit.com).
