Where did you start your career?
My name is Pedro. I’m 30 years old, and I’m from Portugal. I moved to the Netherlands to work at LINKIT as a Data Engineer. Before that, I worked as a System Administrator and later as a Data Platform Engineer, during which period I also finished my bachelor’s in computer engineering.
What are you doing now?
As a LINKIT consultant, I work as a data engineer in ASML on a team responsible for maintaining an availability platform.
The Availability Platform (AVP) is an ASML solution that processes enterprise and machine data. The solution consists of several data pipelines and a full-stack application used by the tool’s users. AVP runs on an on-premise Kubernetes cluster, leveraging Cloudera solutions to store data and compute executions. We use airflow as our orchestration tool. Currently, AVP is being migrated to a Microsoft Azure environment focusing on Databricks. My role mainly focuses on operations of the AVP on-premise solution and migrating the data pipelines to Azure Cloud, utilising the full power of spark computation on Databricks.
What are your ambitions?
I aspire to become a well-versed data engineer with enough knowledge to design new architectural patterns for companies and improve my skills in the field.
What can we wake you up for in the middle of the night?
Fun fact about me: you can count me in all the time for some motorsport watching or a techno party!
